By the time Kellin sings ‘Battle Stations’ you know you’re in it for a killer chorus, which it delivered. One Man Army, is opened with an acoustic guitar, and constantly adding additional instrumental as the verse goes on. In my opinion, the song metaphorically states that when you’re in too deep with yourself, it’s the time when we think too much of things and it’s almost as if we’re in trouble, because we never should have been thinking about them in the first place. “ I’m in too deep, I sold my soul, I’m out of reach and I can’t let go, I’m in trouble” is the line you’re greeted with in during the choruses. The fourth song on the album is Trouble is filled with harmonious back-up vocals, both in the verses and on the chorus. Legends is the typical encouragement music with dreamy guitars, lyrics stating that we can do anything and the music video itself screams aesthetic. Legends is the third track on the album, but it was the lead single first released by the band. And the title itself in the lyrics “ Let’s burn the old empire into ashes” implies to burn old useless thinking. Filled with electronics and chunky riffs, “ Feels like we’re caged animals, looking for the antidote, to break the chains they put us in” – depicts the standards society has us following, and how they want to ‘break the chains’ and straying away from the status quo. Basically, the song implies that the band or Kellin Quinn, is not what everybody think they are.Īfter Gossip, we are greeted with Empire to Ashes. And when Kellin Quinn hums “Don’t believe the lies you heard about me”, it depicts the first step of the the band going out of their “usual” genre.
It features the signature hand claps, slezy instrumentals. The first track is the title track itself, Gossip. And what can I say? It’s been two years since their last release, and FINALLY we get a taste of new material from the band. It has 11 tracks on it, and I’m going to go on with my thoughts on each one. This is a follow up to their last album Madness released back in 2015. It is their first release since the band’s departure from Epitaph Records and their first release on a major label. American rock band Sleeping With Siren, is back at it again with their fifth studio album Gossip.
